Ali Landry

Born July 21, 1973 in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Ali Landry is the epitome of the small town girl that has found glamour, fame, and fortune in the big city. As a teen, she attended Cecilia High School, where she was a cheerleader and grew up with her sister, Gena, and brother, Ty. Before being thrown into the spotlight, she led a relatively quiet life, studying Mass Communications at the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha.

Many claim her rise to stardom began with beauty pageants. She was crowned Miss Louisiana in 1996 and went on to win the Miss USA title the same year (in a dress borrowed from photographer Kay Ouzts), and finished in the top six in the Miss Universe pageant the same year. But despite these achievements, she didn't stop there. In fact, she went on to appear in many film spots, ranging from soaps to commercials to game shows. For example, in 1997 she appeared in the television series "Sunset Beach" and the soap "The Bold and the Beautiful." A year later she appeared in "Hollywood Squares" and "Felicity," among many other shows.

Though Ali Landry has many film and television credits to her name, she is possibly best known as the "Doritos Girl," in reference to the sexy and sultry character she played in a Doritos commercial which first aired during the 1998 Super Bowl.

In addition to these accolades, the steamy actress who is said to resemble a young Rita Hayworth has also been named on many of the "hottest" lists in Hollywood. She was named by People magazine as one of the hottest 50 people in the world, was ranked in the 100 Sexiest Women in the World by FHM, and found herself ranked at number 11 in the 25 Sexiest Women of 2003 by E!. Also in 2003, she graced the prestigious pages of Playboy magazine, earning the title of Babe of the Month.

But Ali Landry is more than just a talented actress and a pretty face. She also cares about her community. With a hardy constitution and a desire to persevere, she ran the Boston Marathon for charity, proving that her graceful figure can stand up to the rigors of intense competition. She also appeared in a charity episode of the gritty television show "Fear Factor" and helped to raise funds for the victims of hurricane Katrina by wearing and promoting the sale of wristbands, the proceeds of which go to the victims.

Though the 5'8" beauty is usually sporting a wonderful smile, it has not been all peaches and cream for Landry. She has led a rather tumultuous love life, most of the rockiness occurring around her first husband, Mario Lopez. The two reportedly met at the 1998 Miss Teen USA pageant, where Lopez emceed and Landry was a guest commentator. Friends say he was instantly in love, while Landry was a little reluctant to commit. Though, with persistence from Lopez, the two were engaged in the summer of 2003 and were later married on April 24, 2004. The marriage was short-lived; Ali filed for divorce only six weeks later.

Recently, it seems that Cupid has once again seen it fit to strike Landry with the love bug. On April 8, 2006, Landry was wed to director Alejandro Gomez Monteverde after nearly a year of courtship. Reportedly, the two met at Bible study at have been smitten with each other ever since. And it is not only their private lives which are intermingling, as Ali will appear in the film "Bella," which Monteverde wrote, directed and produced. So chalk up one more credit to sexy star, and watch for her in the future, as this film will most likely not be her last.
